Introduction

Ordi, the professional therapy dog

I am Ordi, a professional therapy dog since 2022. I was trained by the Do as I Foundation in Hungary, and I have an exam and permission to work as a therapy dog. Now I live and work in Gran Canaria.

The therapeutic exam has two parts. The first one is the temperament test. This consist of obedience tasks on the one hand, and tests assessing the dog's general skills and the suitability of the dog-handler pair for therapy work on the other hand. The second part is a real therapeutic situation, implementation of specific development exercises.

I am a 4 years old labrador retriever boy. I am very intelligent, friendly, lovely, calm, patient and happy dog, and I love playing!

I am a well-trained dog for doing different kinds of activities, for example:

I can walk on leash or without leash during various tasks with participants. I can demonstrate different skills. I can wait patiently in one place for long. I can find things, bark or doing tasks on command. I can imitate people. I can go through obstacle courses with anyone. I love bringing things back.

I have more than one year work experience as a therapy dog. I mostly worked in schools/kindergartens with children, where we did experiential programs, during we taught the children the basics of responsible animal care and animal well-being.

I also worked with elderly people in a nursing home and in hospital with patients recovering from strokes. Theese were therapy sessions.

We have conducted numerous private experiential programs for children, couples, seniors, and we took part in various events, like class trips or birthday parties.
